Genuine Talent VS Manufactured Popularity
As industry professionals we thought it was about time people were made aware of the damaging effects shows like X Factor and Britain's Got Talent have on our careers, and the music industry in general. These shows dominate our TV screens and are nothing more than long running popularity competitions. They stifle new talent, take work away from professional entertainers, chew up and spit out contestants with no regard for their future, and totally devalue our industry.
We have nothing against this type of show in principle, but in their current format of humiliating/ridiculing the public (who are often unprepared for such criticisms), whilst also ignoring professionals in favour of sob stories and talentless wannabies, we feel something must be done!
